      The department has pioneered B.E. degree in Instrumentation Technology in 1978 and PG degree in Biomedical Instrumentation in 1992. It has well qualified staff having expertise in various fields.
The department has well equipped laboratories to cater to the needs of the students for experimentation as per the syllabus and research and development activities.
      The department has received funding of five lakhs from AICTE for setting up Medical image and Signal processing laboratory. All India Council for Technical Education has also sanctioned a sum of 4 lakhs for R&D work in the area of Speech enhancement in the digital hearing aids in the department.

      Provides platform for extra curricular activities like in-house workshops, seminars, group discussion, project exhibition, quiz, Industrial visits.

      Larsen & Turbo, Wipro, Infosys, Indian Institute of Science, NIMHANS, CFTRI, AIISH, DRDO, MRPL, HAL.

Facilities:

      The Department of Instrumentation Technology has well-equipped laboratories catering to its academic and consultancy programmes. Amongst the major infrastructural facilities are Control System Laboratory, Digital Electronics Laboratory, Process Instrumentation Laboratory, Printed Circuit Board Technology Laboratory, Equipment Design Technology Laboratory, Image Processing Laboratory, Biomedical Laboratory, Computer Centre, DSP Lab, Microprocessor and Microcontrollers Laboratory. Some of the equipments include - various types of servo-motors, equipments to test digital electronic circuitry, feed back control system to study intricate servo-systems, their excitation method and resultant response, simulator for practical control system, equipment for measurement of level, viscosity, pressure, flow and temperature controller, equipment to study actual process control mechanism, study of analytical instrumentation, centralized facility to design and fabricate printed circuit boards (both PTH and non-PTH) High speed PCB drilling machine, Biomedical trainer kit, ECG, Pulse oximeter, PIC micro controller, DSP work station, Otoacoustic analyzer and PLC.
      Biomedical instrumentation laboratory has been set up. This laboratory contains facilities for doing laboratory and research work in the area of biosignal acquisition, and analysis of medical images. DSP and microcontroller lab facilities have been established recently.
      The Department has organized one National and one International seminar on Instrumentation. Several continuing education programmes and also programmes for faculty of other engineering colleges and professionals from industry have been organized by the department.
